A Grantham mum has created a Facebook support to help herslef and others with anxieties get through the current coronavirus lockdown.
Emma Prince has run her Bodyzone business since 2009 and has been a sports massage and holistic therapist for 19 years.
She offers treatments including deep tissue, relaxation massage, hot stones, pregnancy massage, facial treatments,
variety of different types of pamper packages. Emma had to close her business of March 19 as she no longer had childcare for her son and due to social distancing measures her insurance company said she was no linger able to treat clients, leaving her out of work. Emma told Grantham Nub News: "After a couple of days I started thinking what can I do? I still really wanted to help others! I kept seeing a lot of different posts on Facebook of people feeling anxious, worried, feeling stressed, overwhelmed, finding it hard to switch off and not being able to sleep. "As I suffer with anxiety myself over the yearsrs I have learnt to find different techniques to help. Due to the current situation COVID19 my own anxiety has got a lot worse. "I have also studied in mindfulness, mediation and reiki but this was all for my personal use. I have never charged or treated any clients specifically in these areas as it was something for me. Emma wondered how to keep her business and decided to launch her free support group 'Supporting Anxiety and Improving Relaxation in Grantham & Surrounding areas'. This group is also open to anyone in any area. The group has been going a couple of weeks and runs alongside her Facebook workpage BodyZone Massage Therapy & Wellness centre. Emma explained: "I have set up the support group to offer helpful tips in all different areas such as:-•breathing techniques.
•mediation.•improve relaxation.
•promote better sleep.•self massage techniques.
•aromatherapy blends.•scalp massage routines.
•Facial massage routine.•pressure points.
•stretches to help with back, sciatic pain and neck.•how heat and ice can help improve aches and pains.
She continued: "I have been updating the support group with regular positive affirmations. I recently uploaded my first ever video which I was very nervous and anxious about at the time but I am so glad that I did it.
"The video is in two parts. Part One is an introduction and breathing technique. Part Two is a basic scalp massage routine.
"I have had a lot of great feed back from followers in the group & it has really helped them to take time out for them selves and improved relaxation and helped to lower anxiety."
Emma has also just ordered some aromatherapy oil and bottles to make up her own blends at home.
"I am so excited about sharing different blends with everyone. Aromatherapy oils offer a lot of great elements to help in lots of ways with relaxation, sleep, anxiety, stress and much more. The oils can be used in the bath, room diffuser and massage etc.
"Everything that I am offering is at no charge and with free advice. I just really want to help others as I do understand how it feels to have anxiety. I wish that I had come across a group like this when I was at my worst. If I can help someone in just a very small way then it's all worth it.
Emma says once the lockdown is over and her business is running again, she will carry on uploading videos and offering aromatherapy blends.
Emma added: "I will be moving slightly in a different direction and I will keep supporting anxiety and promoting relaxation as this is such a big area now. This will hopefully open up more doors into different fields. I am trying to keep very positive for when that day comes and I can open my doors again to all my lovely clients that I miss dearly."
"I will be offering all key workers and NHS discounted treatments as without them and all their hard work where would we all be.
"Thank you so much for everyone's support in my business and also the support group."
