A centuries-old historic pub just outside Grantham has moved into the 2020s by launching a special app to make online ordering easy.

The Green Man, Ropsley, voted local CAMRA pub of the year 2020, says the app will continue to drive the take-away and delivery business of the much-loved pub throughout lockdown.

The new App can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play.

Operators, Phil and Leanne Docherty have shored up their business by relentless efforts to provide takeaway and delivery from their renowned pub grub offering.

Leanne said: "Initially, during the first lockdown, we saw an enormous amount of support from the immediate community. It allowed us to grow and improve upon the takeaway menu options.

"Our stone-baked pizzas were a massive hit alongside the beer-battered fish & chips. By lockdown 2, we'd invested in a dedicated delivery vehicle and employed a couple of drivers.

"By lockdown three, our reputation had spread and we saw an increasing amount of demand from those in Grantham and not just the rural areas.

Leanne continued: "In order to manage the sheer scale of it now, we knew we had to invest in a better online ordering system and so worked alongside an app company to bring this to fruition".

Phil said: "Customers can now quickly order their items via a really impressive app which identifies your home location and stores your favourites for next time.

"There's even an ongoing "7th meal free" reward scheme that the app accrues automatically for you and your first order also attracts a 10% discount via the app". The couple add it is also noting their Valentine's Day Afternoon Teas can also be pre-ordered via the App as well. The Green Man is poised and ready to reopen upon the government's say-so, but in the meantime, their takeaway and delivery efforts continue.
