Popular Grantham pub reports success in selling facemasks
A popular Grantham pub has reported success in selling facemasks.
The Nobody Inn at 9 North Street began selling the masks about a month ago.
Landlord Eddie Pimlott told Nub News: "You'd be surprised what pops into your head while having a pint with friends.
"Having the facemasks made was only a bit of a laugh really. It just seemed the right thing to have on the front… tongue in Cheek. I ordered 50 and they have nearly all gone."
Eddie further explained: "I thought while following this Virus thing that its probably going to be with us for a long time and when people had to wear masks in shops, I thought I'd start selling them just in case you arrive at ASDA/LIDL without. Believe me I've done it (now when you go out its wallet, keys, mobile and mask).
"I've sent masks all over the world to friends and hope to get some selfies with world landmarks in the background for the website….Just for FUN!!!! After all we all need some of that at the moment."
Eddie says the Nobody Inn has been busy since re-opening to the public on July 4.
As Nub News previously reported, for a time, Eddie also sold take-outs.
Eddie said: "Everyone has been very sensible and understanding regarding social distancing and personal space.
"I have found that business is more spread out now all day instead of people coming down at the same time, which makes it a calmer atmosphere."
The popular venue is also noted for its music, as well as it's fine ales, which saw it being awarded Pub of the Year by Grantham's CAMRA branch in 2019.
Eddie has long cancelled music for August due to the pandemic but is unsure when it will return.
He said: "Who knows (when it will return)?I can see why the government hasn't let us yet but I feel sad. Many places have shut down places because of its absence. I have friends in bands that are missing the social side and playing Rock Star. As soon as its allowed, we will be back at it as we are still booked up for the year and just waiting for the all clear."
Eddie added: "I apologise to all customers for changes that we have to make during these difficult times but hopefully your visit to Nobody Inn will be as normal as we can make it- but still keeping us all safe."
