'Fantastic' first few days as Grantham's Savoy cinema re-opens

By The Editor 28th Aug 2020

Grantham's Savoy Cinema has reported a "fantastic first few days."

The popular venue on St Catherine's Road had been closed since March but re-opened this week on Tuesday August 25.

A range of safety measures have been put in place, including staggered starting times to reduce contact between groups of customers.

Facemasks are compulsory except when eating and drinking in the auditorium.

There is also extra cleaning, with staff also trained to be Covid-19 safe.

Booking in advance is preferred, to restrict numbers, with contactless payments where this is not possible.

A spokesman told Nub News: "The reopening of the cinema has been very well received. Our entire team are very excited to be back and it seems the people of Grantham are too.

"Whilst we have added a few new safety measure which will effect cinema visits, all customers have been very understanding and compliant, we have not had any issues yet."

The spokesman added: "Future releases look promising for the cinema, we will be showing previews of The New Mutants this weekend.

"Then Woman 1984 and Black Widow will be released this October followed by the new James Bond No Time To Die which is set to come out in November."
