Pizza Express has today confirmed the closure of its Grantham restaurant.

The restaurant on High Street and in the George Centre has not re-opened since closing due to the pandemic.

Today, Pizza Express confirmed a list of closures which come as part of a rescue deal for the troubled restaurant chain.

As national media report today, some 73 or one-sixth of the company's 454 restaurants will now close permanently.

Creditors have agreed to inject £144m into helping reopen Pizza Express outlets forced to close in March under the government's lockdown to control the spread of coronavirus.

Around 1100 jobs will be lost through the financial restructuring deal, but Pizza Express hope it will save the rest of the business, which employs 9,000 people.

Pizza Express at Melton Mowbray will also close, but Stamford's restaurant will remain open.
