Belvoir Castle has reportedly lost its starring role in 'The Crown.'

Instead, producers for the Netflix have used Burghley House, near Stamford, to play the role of Windsor Castle for the fourth series of the hit show.

Belvoir Castle has undertook this role for the first three seasons of 'The Crown.'

The Mail on Sunday yesterday said the change follows a row over money.

Emma, Duchess of Rutland, reportedly sought extra money saying filming for the show may affect the highly profitable shooting season.

But Netflix refused and decided to use Burghley House instead.

Both Belvoir Castle and Burghley House did not comment to the newspaper.

Netflix said it uses many sites across the UK to represent historic locations.

The move comes as the Belvoir Castle has suffered heavily from the pandemic, which has reportedly cost the castle £2.5million.

The Crown was Belvoir Castle staged socially-distant concerts, with camping.
