There have been 50 new confirmed cases of coronavirus and one new hospital death in Greater Lincolnshire this weekend.

Government figures on Monday reported 38 new positive tests in Lincolnshire, with four in North East Lincolnshire and eight in North Lincolnshire.

The weekend numbers are higher than the total new cases of the previous five days (47).

This means there have been 97 cases in our region in the first week of September, compared to 204 for the whole month of August.

NHS statistics over the weekend showed one further death in Northern Lincolnshire and Goole hospitals – the second in 36 days and taking hospital deaths to 268.

NHS England said all the patients who died this weekend had underlying health conditions.

Government figures, however, which also include deaths outside of hospitals or outside the county, do not yet reflect the latest deaths, having decreased by one on Friday, but bounced back up to its original figure over the weekend.
