Major construction group Galliford Try has been praised for its work as a 'Considerate Constructor'.

The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a not-for-profit independent organisation founded in 1997 to raise standards within the organisation.

The scheme has awarded Galliford Try a ' '5-Star Rating' following a recent site audit carried out by a Considerate Constructors Scheme assessor.

The audit took an in-depth look at the project, the team and interface with the local community.

As part of the their executive summary, the assessor said: "The entire project team's commitment to the CCS scheme was apparent during the visit, as was their knowledge and enthusiasm, which ensures the project presents an outward positive image of the industry.

"As would be expected, safety, health and the environment are all given a high priority.

"The site clearly values its workforce, as is demonstrated by providing outstanding welfare facilities, raising awareness of mental health issues and visits by an occupational health nurse.

"The commitment of Galliford Try Highways to improving diversity amongst its workforce should also be noted.

"The duration and location of the project has presented the project team with numerous opportunities for community engagement – for example the project has already built up an excellent relationship with Grantham College and has offered their students summer work placements.

"They have in place a well-executed communication plan to ensure all parties are informed of the current progress of the project and all future works."

Jamie Missenden, regional manager with Galliford Try, said: "We recognise the Considerate Constructors Scheme for the value it adds to our sites and to our business, and a great deal of work goes into achieving fantastic scores on all of our projects.

"The score the team has achieved is excellent and testament to the teams efforts, diligence and dedication – supporting the view that Grantham is a project to be proud of."
