The Lincolnshire Co-op says it is "delighted" with the first day of trading at their first Grantham food store.

The new store on the corner of Springfield Road and Hanbury Avenue opened at 7am yesterday, with little fanfare and no ribbon cutting in response to the pandemic.

As reported by Grantham Nub News, further safety measures have been introduced, with the pandemic also delaying the opening of the food store from early April.

The store, which created 15 jobs, offers groceries, baked goods from its Gadsby's Bakery, food-to-go options and chilled beers and wines.

Food Store Manager Kieran Hitch said: "We've been delighted with the reaction on opening day and it's been brilliant to meet our customers.

"Opening an outlet during this time has been a new experience for everyone and I'd like to thank my team and everyone from Lincolnshire Co-op who has helped us.

"I'd also like to thank the shoppers using our store who have been following all the social distancing measures in place."

Shoppers at the store can also become Lincolnshire Co-op members. As members they'll get a dividend card to collect dividend each time they shop in any Lincolnshire Co-op outlet.

They'll also be entitled to a range of member benefits, get access to member only events, vote for who sits on the Board of Directors and have their say at Annual Members' Meetings.

Extra information about the store opening can be found online.
