South Kesteven District Council: Newsletters for Grantham art lovers

A fortnightly newsletter and a handy online arts guide have been launched by staff at Grantham Guildhall and Stamford Arts Centres.

During the Coronavirus lockdown there has been an explosion of online activity from national organisations presenting streamed arts and cultural performances. The team is keen to share these to engage and entertain existing customers and residents across South Kesteven.

From the National Theatre's regular streamed productions, including 'One Man Two Guvnors' and 'Treasure Island' to Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical theatre performances of 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar', the options are almost endless.

Coupled with the fact that local artists, companies and groups are providing online content for the first time - such as creative challenges for children, families and adults - an email newsletter is a great addition to the Arts Centres' regular social media activity.

Coun Rosemary Trollope-Bellew, the Cabinet Member for Culture at South Kesteven District Council, said: "Throughout the country arts activities and initiatives have provided wonderful examples of creativity and talent during the lockdown. Local artists and performers are well-represented in the district, sharing their skills and talents.

"Our e-newsletter celebrates and promotes their contribution to the national effort, as well as helping to maintain our important connection with residents and practitioners."

Grantham's Chantry Dance has been producing digital content since late March with online dance classes, fitness and conditioning workouts, footage of Chantry Dance productions, behind-the-scenes rehearsal footage and interviews with high profile industry figures, including performers such as Dominic North (Matthew Bourne's New Adventures). Details can be found on Youtube or at www.chantrydancecompany.org

Stamford-based artist Jane Hindmarch has been exhibiting her pictures in the windows of the Stamford Arts Centre. Residents are encouraged to take a look on their daily walks around town. Go to www.janehindmarchart.com for more information.

Anyone who would like to receive the regular round-up 'Arts. at Home', including information on what local artists and performers are doing while the Arts Centres are closed, should visit www.stamfordartscentre.com/Join-Our-Mailing-List or www.guildhallartscentre.com/Join-Our-Mailing-List

Local artists and performers, groups or organisations who would like to be included in the e-newsletter should email SK Arts Projects Officer Jo Dobbs at [email protected]
