Grantham hospital campaigner Coun Charmaine Morgan says patients have been "essentially evicted from our own hospital."

The district councillor and chair of the SOS Grantham Hospital campaign group says ULHT and other decision makers need to know recent changes at the hospital have had a 'profound' impact on patients and services must be restored.

Coun Morgan says she has been monitoring the impact of changes on patients and is collating a report on the issue.

Affected patients can help by ringing her on 07398 156296 or email [email protected] to submit their experience of using GDH before the changes and since.

Coun Morgan says contacts and comments on social media have told her there has been 'little planning, or real thought' went into realising the impact of changes.

She also believes there 'remain significant gaps' in hospital treatments, also noting the impacts of patients now having to travel to Lincoln or Boston for certain services, which as well as adding to their time and expense, puts them at further health risk.

Coun Morgan said: "I have written to Andrew Morgan CEO of ULHT with a number of procedural concerns, some examples of those affected, and, calling on ULHT to restore services at GDH now.

"I have also sent an FOI request to EMAS. I have heard EMAS were not consulted prior to the closure of our A&E. This would be a dreadful omission if true. We know neither our District or County councils were fully consulted beforehand."

In the letter, Coun Morgan asks a range of questions, including on studies ULHT undertook to assess the impact of last month's changes on patients, particularly children and cancer patients, as citing several real-life cases.
