If you have a passion for pubs, then Lincolnshire County Council might have the perfect job for you!

The county council is seeking a Project Officer to research the history and importance of pubs, as well as help promote them.

The job, which pays £25,991 - £28,672, is part of the council's Inns on the Edge project, which is being funded by Historic England.

The advertisement for the role said: "The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues from the experienced and successful Historic Places Team – putting the historic environment at the heart of the county council's place-making role and planning advisory service."

The role would also "involve researching and recording the architectural and social history of public houses along a 50 mile stretch of the Lincolnshire Coast from Grimsby to Boston, to inform their future management and conservation.

"This is urgently needed to enhance the local historic environment records, raise awareness in response to the threat of pub closures, and help the hospitality sector recover from the pandemic.

"The Project Officer will help work with colleagues, partners and communities to promote and celebrate the value of Lincolnshire's historic pubs to society, tourism and the local economy through social media, trails and an end of project exhibition."

Inns on the Edge aims to be a pilot project, during which ideas and methodologies will be tested and evaluated, with the aim of leading to similar roles being developed in other parts of England.

According to the job description applicants must have a "good working knowledge of the environment" and experience of carrying out research.

"A good working knowledge of the region's heritage, and of the architectural and social history of pubs is desirable," it continued. "As is a good understanding of the social and economic role of public houses in rural and urban communities today, and the current challenges they face." Essential requirements also include a degree or equivalent experience in heritage management. Furthermore: "The remote nature of the project area means that a full driving license and access to a car will be required." Further details of the job can be found here.
