Coronavirus crisis: Lincolnshire case total tops 3,000

There have been 55 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Greater Lincolnshire this weekend.

Government data showed cases of COVID-19 in Lincolnshire across Saturday and Sunday passed the 3,000 mark, adding 38 new cases to a total of 3,024.

Meanwhile there were 12 new cases in North Lincolnshire, and five in North East Lincolnshire.

It means there have been 379 cases of coronavirus confirmed in Greater Lincolnshire so far in September.

The UK's chief scientific advisor is expected to give a speech today (Monday) outlining the current situation.

It comes as health bosses are warning the UK faces a "very challenging winter period".

Nationally, cases increased by 8,321 to 394,257 cases, while deaths increased by 45 to 41,777.

There were no further hospital deaths confirmed for the Greater Lincolnshire regions in NHS figures or the government's own tally, which also includes deaths outside of hospitals or outside the county.

Greater Lincolnshire also reports 390 deaths (no change)

34 from North East Lincolnshire (no change)

of which 268 hospital deaths (no change)

144 at United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust (no change)

4 at Lincolnshire Community Health Service hospitals (no change)

1 at Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust (no change)

119 in Northern Lincolnshire (NLAG) (no change) Across the UK there have been 394,257 confirmed cases and 41,777 deaths.
