A Grantham B&B operator has gained approval from South Kesteven District Council to operate 'supper clubs' twice a week.
Nicholas Potter of the Music House at 59 Harrowby Road said his home operates as a B&B, with the dining room being used in the morning to serve guests.
Mr Potter told the council: "Having come from a catering background we had a number of enquiries about evening dining from both B&B guests and local residents, and we would like to utilise the dining room to introduce supper club evenings, which would be available for the B&B guests as well as other private - non resident guests.
"The supper club would be available on a booking only basis for around a couple of sessions per week (sometimes less) - catering for around 6 - 10 guests per session - only one session per day day being available. There is a downstairs self contained WC available for the use of the guests.
"The dining room is accessible from the front entrance and the guests would not have any access to the private side of the house."
A report by SKDC planning staff said the application relates to a Lawful Development Certificate for the existing B&B. It had advertised but the publicity did not result in any letters of representation from neighbours.
The report confirmed an exiting dining room would be used for the supper clubs and it would only be used in the evenings twice a week for at most, ten guests. The larger proportion of the property would be unaffected.
More people would use the dining room, it continued, but "this would not result in an unacceptable impact to neighbouring residents or be considered unreasonable."
The report concluded: "On balance, it can be considered that the use would remain within the C3 use class and that the proposed use would constitute any material change. As such, the proposal is considered
to be lawful."
