Grantham has gone wild over a planned delivery service from a town butcher and sandwich store.

A few days ago, the popular Watkins in wide Westgate posted a message on social media about a possible future operation.

The message said: "We are considering offering a home delivery service with a minimum spend of £15. We would love to know your thoughts on this?"

The invitation received around 600 comments on their Facebook page and was shared more than 130 times.

Among the comments Mel Cant said: "That would be amazing. I use Watkins every week so to have it delivered would be fantastic. However would you deliver to villages? Would happily pay a delivery charge."

Others also asked about deliveries to villages.

Elvis Stooke said: "Fantastic idea saves queuing outside in these unprecedented times.

Lou Kennedy said: "Brilliant idea! Watkins is such a loved business in Grantham x."

Kirsty Lill said: "That would be amazing! I would definitely have a weekly delivery x

And Julie Harrod also commented: "Fab idea. I remember the Watkins van coming round the streets when I was little. My Auntie Sandra drove it. Always a good day when Watkins delivered!"

Just hours later, Watkins responded: "Thank you for your amazing response to our idea of introducing delivery

"This is a completely new idea for us here at Watkin's so we have a lot of work to do before we can begin delivering!

"We have had a lot of questions regarding delivery to villages surrounding Grantham.

"At the moment our initial thoughts are that we will be delivering to Grantham mon-sat and surrounding villages would be done on set days/times."
