Six bungalows are proposed for a small village close to Grantham.

Invicta Developments of Long Bennington seek to build the four 3-bed and two 4-bed homes in Old Somerby, with road frontage to School Lane.

If approved, the bungalows would be built on a 0.45ha former quarry to the south east of the junction of School Lane and the B1176 at Old Somerby.

The application to South Kesteven District Council said: "The dwellings will be single storey. This will create a softer less obtrusive vista to this prominent approach to the village and fits with the single /one and a half storey dwelling seen on Grantham Road when approaching Old Somerby from the west."

Assessing the various planning policies and guidelines, the application concluded: "The existing usage of the site is consistent with the character of the locality, which is predominantly residential.

"The developer understands the site and has produced a scheme to reflect this.

"The proposed scheme fits with all the above policies."

"Materials stated are appropriate to the existing dwelling and other buildings in the locality, and reflect local traditional materials.

" Natural stone and clay pantiles are considered to be most appropriate in this instance."
