The Belvoir Garden and Flower Festival returns bigger and better for its second year once again taking up residence in a beautiful lakeside setting with panoramic views of the Regency castle and surrounding Capability Brown parkland landscape.

Visitors to the festival on Saturday, 13 and Sunday, 14 July, can pick up specialist advice from the UK's leading plant-growers - including four RHS Chelsea Gold winners - find out how to pimp up their pots and take inspiration from stunning show gardens and borders.

Emma, Duchess of Rutland, said: "This will be a quintessential British day out with beautiful garden inspiration and ideas.

"Think picnic in the park meets Chelsea Flower Show, enjoy a picnic with Pimms, listen to live music and come along and explore the castle gardens at the same time."

Over in the marquee, hosting a full programme of talks and demonstrations each day, the renowned floral designer Jonathan Moseley will be sharing his passion for beautiful seasonal flowers.

One of the leading figures within the floral art world, he will be inspiring everyone to grow lots of plants which are perfect for cutting and arranging.

Garden blogger Annabelle Padwick of Life at No.27 will be advocating for the physical and mental benefits that getting outdoors can bring as well as staging her first ever Show Border.

Started in 2015 as an allotment and GYO blog with the aim to inspire people, particularly the younger generation, to put down their phones and pick up a spade, Life at No.27 believes in transforming lives through the power of gardening.

BBC gardening presenter John Stirland will be in conversation with Professor David Stephens (Saturday), TV gardening show regular and respected horticulturalist and Rutland's award-winning Barnsdale Gardens owner Nick Hamilton (Sunday).

Flying in from New York, the author of the best-selling book Botanical Shakespeare, Gerit Quealy will be delivering a talk and exhibiting at the event. Her breathtaking illustrated book offers a unique insight into Shakespeare and his timeless work through the unusual perspective of the plants themselves.

A popular feature is sure to be the Question Time slot where visitors can put their burning gardening questions to the expert panel.

Away from the talks, visitors can browse amongst the 70 exhibitors showing everything from garden furniture, sculpture artists, tools and crafts, as well as expert horticulturists on hand to answer gardening questions.

Artisan food and drink, gourmet burgers, homemade pies and cakes and a prosecco bar along with live music are on offer to complete a perfect summer's day out.

Ticket prices on the gate are priced at £15 per adult; £5 child five to 16 and £35 family ticket two adults and up to two children five to 16. Ticket includes on-site parking, admission to the event and Belvoir Castle garden.

The festival is organised by Halcyon Days Garden Events will be supporting the Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society, along with three other nominated charities Macmillan, Highground and Team Edward Labrador Rescue.
