Following a disruptive end to the school year, students across the county are receiving their A-Level results today.
With exams cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, students have this year been awarded grades by their teachers. These results have been standardised nationally and today students will learn their final grades.
Students will then have the option to accept the grades, change them for marks gained in a mock exam or sit an exam in the autumn.
Heather Sandy, Executive Director for Children's Services, said: "This has been an extremely difficult year for all students, particularly those taking their A Levels and GCSEs. These students have worked hard throughout their school careers, and it's important this is recognised and rewarded. So I'm pleased that the government, exam boards and schools have found a way for students to gain the qualifications they deserve, despite the unprecedented circumstances.
"I'm confident Lincolnshire will again have strong results this year, but there will inevitably be students that are disappointed with their grades. I'd like to reassure them that support is available to help them take their next step, whether that's university, employment or training."
Cllr Mrs Patricia Bradwell OBE, Executive Member for Children's Services, added: "We know this has been an anxious time for students in their final year at school. Not only have they been unable to experience the usual end of school celebrations, but there has been uncertainty about what would happen with qualifications.
"A lot of hard work has been put in, not just by the students, but schools and teachers as well, and this should be reflected in their results. I look forward to hearing about our local successes and wish all our students the very best for the future."
To help young people take their next step, Lincolnshire County Council and the Greater Lincolnshire Local Enterprise Partnership has collated information about the excellent career opportunities available in the county. The information is available on the Family Services Directory website.
Please note that due to the changes to this year's results process, the county council will not be provided with this year's A Level results and will not be able to provide overall figures for the county.
