Twenty tonnes of rubbish has finally been removed from a country lane north of Grantham.

The waste was dumped overnight at the site near Fulbeck during early July, leading to weeks of investigation.

South Kesteven District Council worked with the Environment Agency, North Kesteven District Council and Lincolnshire Police on what SKDC called a 'substantial' fly-tip.

As previously reported by Nub News, SKDC's Cabinet Member for Commercial and Operations, Cllr Dr Peter Moseley, said "This is the largest fly-tip I have ever seen."

On Wednesday, SKDC posted on twitter: "Today we've been clearing up 20-tonnes of tipped rubbish on a country lane near Leadenham.

"We need the public's help to solve this crime and prevent others. Please be vigilant; if you see something suspicious, report it or we could see more of the same."

The council also said: "You can report incidents of any size to SKDC on 01476 406080 or the police via 101.

"Lots of firms offer domestic waste clearance but please make sure they're legal - because if they dump your rubbish, it could be you that gets prosecuted.

"You can check they have a waste licence by calling the Environment Agency on 03708 506506."

The Lincolnshire Police Rural Crime Team added: "If you see someone dumping waste, please call us on 999 (it's a crime in progress)

"If you find waste that's been dumped, contact the local Council."
