Take a look inside Grantham's new Co-op foodstore- which opened today

Grantham's new £1.5M Co-op food store opened on Springfield Road this morning.

The outlet is the first Lincolnshire Co-op food store in Grantham, though the co-op does have a pharmacy at Barrowby Gate and a travel branch in the town centre.

The opening at 7am was 'low key', lacking an official ribbon cutting as part of store's efforts to minimise the risk of spreading coronavirus.

Other measures, as you enter the store, were signs advising that a maximum of ten customers were allowed in at any time.

You were invited to sanitise your hands and any baskets you used.

One way signs guided customers and told you how far apart you are.

Screens also protected the staff from customers and vice versa.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and one told me business was 'steady.'

Either way, the range looked impressive, with several lines of packed shelves and many refridgerated sections with chilled goods.

Local produce is also available, including a selection of Lincolnshire ales.

There were also magazines and newspapers.

Outside, the car park had plenty of room, but I am sure when things return to some sort of normality, Grantham's new co-op will prove very popular with shoppers, especially those seeking a modern convenience store to 'pick up a few bits,' as I did today.

Further details of the store can be found here.
