Police are appealing for information after a schoolgirl was 'frightened and upset' after being approached by a man in Great Ponton.

The incident happened on Wednesday (26 June) between 8.15am and 8.45am.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "A young girl, walking to school, was approached by a man near the footbridge (northbound) off Heath Lane, Great Ponton, which caused her to be frightened and upset.

"The male is described as being around 60 years old with a beard.

"It is possible that the man may have been in the service station shop prior to the incident but we believe that he may well have crossed the footbridge back to the main village area.

"Did you see the incident?

"Did you see anyone in the area between the above times?

"Do you know anyone who either lives or visits the village who fits the description of the male?

"Were you the male in question?"

If you are able to answer any of the questions then call 101 quoting Incident number 104 26/06/2019.
