Planners have given further support to a children's residential home proposed for a village near Grantham.

Officers for South Kesteven District Council have renewed their backing for the scheme at Heath Farm, Newgate Lane, Londonthorpe.

As Nub News reported last month, SKDC's planning committee deferred a decision on the application for further inquiries to be made on the home's relationship with Lincolnshire County Council and also over concerns of the 'isolation' of the site.

The application from Portsmouth-based Protea Care Ltd again comes before the planning committee of SKDC next Wednesday August 19.

A report prepared for the meeting says Protea Care is an approved carer for Lincolnshire County Council. Since the site for it was relatively close to Grantham, it was not too 'isolated' for the children. But more, updated details, would be available at the meeting.

Converting the use of the existing farmhouse would not change the appearance of the building. That and the small number of children using the home would not impact on the amenity of nearby residents or the character of the area, it added.
