More than 20 jobs could be created in a planned development of start-up industrial units in Grantham.

A planning application to build to demolish two existing industrial units and replace them with eight new, smaller units, will be determined by a meeting of councillors next week.

The planning committee of South Kesteven District will consider the application concerning a 0.28ha site on the south west corner of the Alma Park Industrial Estate.

Applicant Richard Brooker of Creative Products Ltd wants to demolish two existing buildings and create the new units at 1 Ruston Road.

The development, close to a car repair repair centre and a clothing printing business, would see eight small units created, ranging from 89m2 to 185m2, with a total floorspace of 1,102m2. There would be two news buildings in a L shape.

The buildings, for office, industrial and storage use, would be aimed at start-ups or small scale businesses seeking flexibility.

Some 22 jobs could be created and there would be parking for 20 cars, continued the report prepared for the Wednesday (June 24) meeting.

Recommending approval, a planning officers report said: "The proposal is considered to increase employment opportunities, creating a net employment gain on the site through the demolition of two existing buildings and the erection of eight small industrial units, all serving a business niche for smaller, more flexible units that help smaller and start-up businesses."
