A man suffered a serious head injury after being assaulted in Grantham last night (Fri).

A 37-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident near the Kings Arms pub in Westgate.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: "At 11.20pm on Friday (28 Feb) we were called to a report of an injured man.

"The man, in his 30s, was taken to hospital with a serious head injury. He remains in hospital.

"The arrested man remains in custody and will be questioned in due course."
