Belton House is hosting a series of Love Local events to showcase the work of its local suppliers.

This Saturday (10 Aug) visitors can meet Simon Croson from Caythorpe-based The Artisan Honey Company.

Simon's 40th birthday gift of a beekeeping course was the springboard for an award-winning company.

A member of the Bee Farmers Association and eminent bee photographer, Simon started The Artisan Honey Company in 2011.

He now has more than 300 hives across South Kesteven, producing thousands of jars of honey a year.

Harvesting is a simple, but time consuming, process. The frames are removed, protective wax capping taken off and the honey released by spinning in an extractor. The liquid honey is then filtered and bottled.

Although delicious in its own right, Simon also experiments with flavours including cinnamon, ginger and wild rose.

Simon will be at the National Trust property's gift shop in the stable yard this Saturday between 11am and 5.30pm.

Next Saturday (17 Aug), will be the turn of Newark-based Soapology, which makes hand-crafted artisan soap bars with 100% natural ingredients, on Saturday, 24 August, Grantham-based SF Crafts, which produces beautifully-fragranced, hand poured Eco-soy wax candles and melts and on Saturday, 31 August, Grantham's famous Hawkens Gingerbread.

The meet and greets are free, but normal admission charges to Belton House apply.
