By The Editor

5th Apr 2021 | Local News

Calling all candidates in the upcoming May 6 elections.

Some of you already have sent us articles telling us about yourselves, who you are, your background, why you are standing, and what you hope to achieve if elected.

For those of you who haven't, please send us something similar, including details of any political activity, membership of clubs and societies, local links, plus anything else you may feel is relevant in your bid.

And please send a photo or two, along with your words, to [email protected]

Already South Kesteven District Council has begun the process by sending out polling cards.

On March 22 it also published the Notice of Election.

This week, candidates must deliver their completed nomination papers by hand to the South Kesteven District Council Offices, St Peter's Hill, Grantham, by 4pm on Thursday April 8.

Appointments will be required to deliver nomination papers which can be made by contacting the elections team on 01476 40 60 80.

Adults need to be registered to be able to vote in elections and referendums so for those who do not receive a polling card, or where the details are incorrect, the deadline for registering at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote is 11.59pm on April 19.

Also taking place on May 6 are by-elections for the Glen Ward of SKDC (one vacancy); Corby Glen Parish Council (two vacancies); Pointon and Sempringham Parish Council (five vacancies) and St George's Ward of Stamford Town Council (one vacancy).

SKDC chief executive Karen Bradford will be the Returning Officer for the district, parish and town council elections and Counting Officer for a number of Neighbourhood Plan Referendums taking place on the same day.

Full details can be found at the SKDC website www.southkesteven.gov.uk/elections2021
