Lincolnshire Police: Man arrested on suspicion of murder in Grantham

An investigation has been launched following the death of a woman in Grantham.

Officers were called just before 11.30pm yesterday (Wednesday April 8) to a property on Chestnut Grove where the body of a woman was discovered.

The female victim is believed to be 23 years old. A formal identification has not taken place. Next of kin have been informed. A post mortem examination is due to be carried out later.

A local man, aged 30, has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

At present police are not seeking anyone else in relation to this investigation. A scene guard is in place at the property while investigating officers carry out inquiries at the address.

Detective Chief Inspector Karl Whiffen, Senior Investigating Officer, from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said: "The local community may see increased police activity in the vicinity of Chestnut Grove, Grantham.

"I wanted to take this opportunity to let the public know we remain committed to conducting our inquiries, and ensuring that we will be comprehensive in terms of our investigation.

"I'd like to make a direct appeal to anyone who was in the area of Chestnut Grove around 11.30pm last night and saw or heard anything unusual, or have any information that might help the investigation to contact us."
