The Lincolnshire death toll from Coronavirus continues to mount as the number of confirmed cases continues to rise.

Peterborough City Hospital, which cares for patients from Stamford, Bourne and the Deepings has also reported a sharp rise in the number of fatalities.

The figures come as Lincolnshire and surrounding area also reported a sharp rise in the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus.

The United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust, which operates hospitals at Grantham, Boston, Lincoln and Louth, this afternoon confirmed the deaths of three more patients, bringing its total number of deaths at its hospitals to 36.

The trust said: "The patients were two men aged 79 and 82, and one woman aged 99. All had underlying health conditions."

Once again, ULHT did not say in which hospitals the patients died in.

Overall, it means the county's death toll now stands at 50, with a further 14 dying in northern Lincolnshire since the crisis began.

The youngest patient to have died in Lincolnshire's hospitals was 49.

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust reported that over the past few days, the number of deaths at its hospitals has increased from 23 to 34.

A statement said: "There have been 13 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 21 at Peterborough City Hospital. Patients were aged 30 to 90 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. They had all tested positive for COVID-19."

The death toll comes as Leicestershire reported 433 cases today, compared with 386 yesterday.

Lincolnshire saw its number of cases up from 319 to 363.

Peterborough reported five more cases with 85 in total.

Rutland remained at 8 cases.

Nationally, the UK has 65,077 cases, an increase of 4,344 on yesterday.

The number of deaths has increased by 882 to 7,978.
