The drinks were flowing finely at the Lord Harrowby beer festival, which began in Grantham yesterday.

The popular pub at 65 Dudley Road started the festivities at 12 noon yesterday and they were busily serving until 11pm.

The pub's Nigel Glover told Nub News: "The festival has been going very well. It was lovely. We were up until 11pm and customers were coming back early for our 12 noon start.

"Word is getting out and we seen people we haven't seen before. It's been really nice."

Nigel added: "We are really grateful for all the local support and to Grantham CAMRA for help with the spillage."

Earlier, pub manager Warren Minns promised 18 real ales and six ciders, including many beers people will not have had before, as previously reported by Nub News.

There will also be barbeque food available on Saturday and Sunday and live music from 'The System' (Saturday) and 'Cruel Sister' (Sunday).

Certainly, a good time last night was being had by all, also helped by the indoors of the pub still having a good selection of real ales.

One customer told Nub News: "Warren has chosen a fine selection of beers and he has been keeping them well.

"I don't recall ever drinking most of what's available, but it was great to see Black Gang Porter from Newby Wyke of Grantham. This is hard to find and it is absolutely delicious!"

The beer festival runs until Sunday.
