Vulnerable residents are being encouraged to use specially-created armbands to let people know they need extra space to help ensure their safety.
And with fresh government social restrictions due to be imposed from tomorrow, health campaigners have issued a reminder.
Sue McQuinn of Grantham told Nub News: "When the government relaxed the rules for those in the shielding category in August, many would have been in isolation since Mid-March and feel daunted as they ventured out into the wider world.
"I was concerned that by the time the 'shielders' were allowed out again that the general public would have become somewhat blasé about social distancing. I posted a suggestion on the Grantham Area Covid-19 Support Page on Facebook that perhaps an armband for those in this category might help. This received a very positive response from many members of the Group."
Sue said: "I was really fortunate to have a local businessman (who wishes to remain anonymous) offer to sponsor the idea & turn it into a reality. Local printing company, Print Bureau, located on Alma Park Industrial Estate, were able to help with the printing.
"They sourced a hi-viz armband that was suitable for a large enough message to be printed upon that could be read from a distance. This enables members of the public to be aware of those at higher risk and take additional care with social distancing. It also gives staff at premises they visit a heads up on their status."
Hospital campaigner Bernice Cullimore has offered to co-ordinate distribution.
Sue continued: "As one of the Hospital Vigilers, Bernice was able to offer a collection point on a Wednesday for those who needed it. She's been a great help in dropping armbands off or posting if necessary.
"The reaction from those who've used them has been really positive. They've found them helpful & given them confidence in getting back to something like normality.
"Following coverage on Look North and in local media, about 150 have been distributed and with the rise in infection rates I thought it a good time to remind people there are still a limited number available. At the moment, once they're gone, they're gone!
"We've made them available for a donation of at least £2 (+ postage if required) to the Lincs Air Ambulance.
Sue added: "Anyone interested should contact Bernice Cullimore on Facebook for further details."
