Grantham swimmer Callum Melville struck gold again last night (Friday) in one of the UK's top swimming events.
Callum, 13, had already won gold and silver respectively in the 200m breast-stroke and 50m breast-stroke at the Scottish National Age Group Championships 2019.
Last night he claimed gold again in the 100m breast-stroke as some of the country's greatest young swimming talents clash at Tollcross Swim Centre in Glasgow.
Earlier in the day he had qualified fastest for the final in a personal best time.
Callum is currently in Glasgow with mum, Laura, while anxious dad Ian and younger brother Logan watch his performances live at home in Morton, near Bourne, through a streaming service.
On Thursday, Ian admitted to being a 'bag of nerves' as Callum qualified for the 50 m breast-stroke final where he went on to put in a personal best time of 33:35 seconds to take silver.
Said Ian: "I'm always nervous during qualifiying - maybe even more nervous than in the finals because if you're disqualified - which can happen easily at the start in a swimming race - that's it. It's all over.
"Going into the 50m breast-stroke heats Callum was the fastest in Britain in his age group, but that's no guarantee of a place in the final. So I was massively relieved when he got through - and the final was incredible."
Just two tenths of a second separated Callum and winner Stefan Krawiec, with both boys set to go head to head again today.
In winning gold in the 200m breast-stroke, Callum shattered his previous personal best time by over nine seconds to become the fastest 11-13 year old in Britain over the distance.
Callum goes for more medals today and tomorrow.
