A Grantham primary school is forging links with a school in the Middle East.
The Poplar Farm Primary School in Grantham will be sharing lessons with the Maroub Elementary Public School in Tyre, Lebanon.
The partnerships is part of Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning, a global education programme operating in more than 30 countries, run by the British Council in partnership with the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
The scheme works with schools across the globe to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes to make a positive contribution to their world.
The programme enables teachers not only to teach these skills to children in their classroom, but also to visit partner schools in other countries to exchange insights and ideas on how to improve teaching and global learning in their schools.
Poplar Farm Primary School is taking part in the programme as part of a cluster of schools because of its commitment preparing young people to make a positive contribution to their world.
On hearing the news that Poplar Farm has successfully applied to take part in the Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning programme, Sir Ciarán Devane, CEO of the British Council, said: "I am delighted that Poplar Farm Primary School in Grantham is taking on this excellent opportunity to develop their professional practice by collaborating with teachers from Lebanon and the UK.

I believe it is important for children to learn about global issues through first hand meaningful experiences." Connecting Classrooms will enable teachers from Poplar Farm School to take part in an exchange visit with the partner school to share experiences and success in teaching and implementing global learning in both schools. Mona Shehadah, Headteacher at Maroub Elementary School said: "We are looking forward to sharing experiences in new fruitful projects with the lovely pupils from Poplar Farm!"
