Grantham: No Fuel in London Road

The 'petrol panic' continues with fuel unavailable in Grantham's London Road earlier today.

This morning, signs at Sainsburys and Esso told motorists they had no fuel available.

However, the Esso on Harlaxton Road was able to help queueing motorists seeking petrol/ diesel.

However, the situation is fast changing, as the Esso on London Road had fuel available on Saturday, as reported by Nub News.

Then, police appealed for patience from motorists seeking fuel, urging them to return later should the queues be too long.

Yesterday, Rutland and Melton MP, Alicia Kearns, whose constituency includes the Vale of Belvoir, again urged motorists to try and avoid panic buying.

The MP posted a statement from the fuel industry to say there is enough fuel to go round if people avoid panic buying and buy fuel as and when they need it, as also reported by Nub News.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson urged people to stop panic buying and to behave "in a normal way".

However, industry sources have told The Times newspaper that the disruption could continue for weeks even if panic buying subsided because it would take time to restock petrol stations.
