A Grantham mum-of-two is keen to help parents who have concerns about the schooling of their children.

Though classes are re-starting for some groups of youngsters, many education experts are worried about the longer term effects of the lockdown and children missing their classes.

They fear that alternative, home-based or online provision has not been sufficient.

Now, Sarah Brunton of Tutortoo is urging worried parents to contact her for advice.

Sarah, who launched the Grantham franchise in February this year, says she is keen to simply help and advise parents without the pressure of having to buy her services.

She told Grantham Nub News: "I appreciate that sometimes parents just need advice and in these worrying times even more so with school closures until at least September with the possibility that full functionality of schools not being until November."

"The pandemic has been challenging as a business not being able to provide the face to face, in home tuition to our students."

For Sarah, whose background is in recruitment, it meant her business, which has tutors around the region, suddenly lost most of its custom.

With no face-to-face tuition, it meant some tutors carrying on with an online offering, but the scrapping of GCSE and A-level exams proved a major blow.

"There was no need to have the extra help to pass."

Sarah continued: "One of the most concerning consequences of current school closures is that socio-economically disadvantaged students are likely to be the group which suffers the most, regardless of year group."

"The great thing about what we do is that we can be fully flexible to meet the students needs.

"We have provisions in place to work with schools to provide qualified, fully vetted tutors who can be timetabled to meet their school requirements and help students in any year group and any subject catch up over short periods of time."

Sarah, 37, also believes that the situation is worrying for children too.

"It's really scary for children. They have entered into unknown territory. This hasn't happened before. They have a lot of catching up to do."

She added: "I'd like to help parents and their children as much as I can, even if it is just a sounding board for worried parents."

"I have two children of my own. I understand the frustrations of parents."
