Grantham area MPs have been lobbying the rail minister for better train services between Grantham and Nottingham.

Grantham MP Gareth Davies, plus Vale of Belvoir MP Alicia Kearns staged an online meeting with Chris Heaton-Harris earlier this week to demand improvements to the Poacher Line.

Mr Davies told Nub News afterwards: "I was delighted to join my parliamentary colleagues in meeting with the Rail Minister, Chris Heaton-Harris MP, to discuss the crucial issue of improving vital rail services between Grantham and Nottinghamshire. While discussions continue, I am encouraged by the Minister's engagement with us on this matter."

Mrs Kearns, who represents Rutland and Melton, but whose constituency covers the Vale of Belvoir, told Nub News: "I had an extremely productive discussion with the Rail Minister about my campaign with neighbouring MPs to secure more services on the Poacher Line through Bottesford.

"Residents deserve reliable and frequent services for work and leisure, and in the next weeks I'll be speaking to the Passenger Services team at the Department for Transport to ensure we achieve just that!

"This follows our bid to the Department's Restore Your Railway Fund in June and my continued work at the same time to make the A52 safer for residents."
