Grantham micro-pub BeerHeadZ announces May re-opening date

Popular Grantham micropub Beerheadz has announced its re-opening date.

The award-winning venue, famous for its real ales and ciders, says it plans to join many other pubs by re-opening on May 17, as allowed under government lockdown easing plans.

Like most of Britain's pubs, Beerheadz in Watergate was unable to open this week because it lacked a beer garden, or the beer garden in this case was too small to make re-opening economic.

Under current regulations pubs are only allowed to serve their customers in outside beer gardens.

Due to lockdown regulations, BeerHeadz has only opened a few days since the start of the pandemic over a year ago.

The second lockdown in November forced its closure again, followed by Tier 3 restrictions afterwards and then the third lockdown in the New Year.

This means the venue, along with many others like it, will have been closed for more than six months when it finally is allowed to re-open.

BeerHeadZ said on Facebook this week: "Due to lack of space at all BeerHeadZ venues, we sadly can't open for custom tomorrow.

"Regulations permitting, will be reopening for indoor drinks at Grantham, Lincoln, Melton and Nottingham on 17th May. Hang in there folks, we're nearly there! "

In the meantime, Grantham CAMRA has issued a guide outlining the re-opening times of pubs in the area, as previously reported by Nub News.

It's chairman Rob Hamnett-Day has called on people to support pubs and breweries after them all losing so much trade due to government imposed restrictions in the hospitality sector.
