A Grantham GP surgery has received reports of fraudsters ringing housebound patients offering to visit their homes and administer the Covid-19 vaccine.
St Peters Hill Surgery posted on Facebook yesterday that the calls were from "unauthorised, non-NHS organisations" which the practice found "disturbing."
The surgery continued: "This is extremely worrying that vulnerable patients are being targeted in this way and has been reported to the appropriate authorities."
The practice called on people to share with family and friends that GP surgeries are not yet able to deliver the vaccine to the housebound.
Therefore, the the surgery is not contacting such people, or asking anyone to do so on their behalf, and everyone should remain vigilant.
The Facebook post added: "Supplies of the vaccine remain very limited so we are still not in a position to invite all of our over 80 year old age group, so would ask for your patience and understanding. We will continue to keep you updated as things develop."
Today, South Kesteven District Council confirmed: "Scam Alert - We have received reports of non-NHS organisations calling people to offer 'at home' COVID-19 vaccinations. These calls are fraudulent - please stay safe and report any suspicious activity to the police."
