The A1 is back open this afternoon following a collision reportedly involving five vehicles near Barrowby.

The incident was reported mid-morning, which said emergency services were at the scene of a collision on the A1 northbound, just before the A52 junction at Barrowby.

A police statement said: "This is a collision which involved several vehicles, reported to us at 11.14am.

"Given the number of vehicles involved and a significant amount of debris spread across the road, the road is likely to be closed.

"Motorists should avoid the area if possible, and we will update later today when more information is available."

At 1.30pm, police reported one lane of the A1 northbound was back open. Traffic was able to pass, but they expected some disruption until both lanes are fully re-opened.

By 1.50pm, police added all vehicles were recovered and the road was fully back open.

There were no reports of any serious injuries.
