Lawnmowers are buzzing and the blossoms are out – so as we enter peak gardening season, householders are being invited to join SKDC's green waste recycling service.
Flowers, plants, leaves, hedge trimmings, grass cuttings, bark, weeds, twigs and small branches can all go in the green bin to save time, hassle and money for those who enjoy their gardens.
Thousands of households are already taking advantage of the fortnightly collection service – and it is not too late to sign up to the garden waste collection scheme or renew membership.
Customers who register using direct debit qualify for a discount via southkesteven.gov.uk/greenbin
New members pay an annual fee to join and there is no limit to the number of garden waste bins they can have. All green waste collected across South Kesteven is taken to a local facility to be turned into compost suitable for agricultural use.
An SKDC spokesperson said: "We hope people agree that the fee represents great value compared to the time and trouble of going to the household waste recycling centre.
"Collections are carried out fortnightly throughout the year, except for the winter months of December to February, when collections are carried out once a month."

Customers who have paid for their green wheelie bin are issued with a special sticker to go on the bin. An electronic system in our lorry cabs has details of properties that have paid to be part of the scheme and collects bins only from those homes that have joined.
