It seems The Lady is for Waiting as the public unveiling of the statue of Margaret Thatcher is delayed yet again.

The £300,000 sculpture by Douglas Jennings is already running behind schedule but now the Coronavirus has caused another delay.

Workmen recently erected the plinth for the controversial statue and today, they could be seen preparing a public realm around it.

After a cabinet meeting where South Kesteven District Council announced a raft of initiatives to try and halt the spread of Coronavirus, Grantham Nub News asked when the statue of Grantham's most famous daughter might be unveiled.

Council leader Kelham Cook told Grantham Nub News: "We were looking at summer but with the Coronavirus, we have pushed it back to the autumn.

"We will also need clarity over who will unveil it," he added.

Further information on Coronavirus, compiled by Nub news using official NHS and government sources can be found here.
