The month of August so far has seen 38% more COVID-19 cases than the whole of July in Lincolnshire.

According to government figures there have been 39 new cases this week, taking the total to 138 for the month so far.

At the end of July there had been 100 cases confirmed for the month, the lowest month since the pandemic began.

Friday's data showed six cases in Lincolnshire and two in North Lincolnshire. There were no new cases in North East Lincolnshire.

The current breakdown of the region's 3,611 cumulative cases is:

2,632 in Lincolnshire (up from 2,626)

748 in North Lincolnshire (up from 746)

231 in North East Lincolnshire (no change)

Lincolnshire's 2632 cases is equivalent to 345.8 cases per 100,000 of population.

This compares to a England average of 496.5 cases per 100,000, based on its 279,459 cases.

Leicester increased by 16 today to 5561 or 1569.9 cases per 100,000.

It's 'rate' is more than four times that of Lincolnshire and more than five times that of South Kesteven.

Leicestershire increased 5 to 3,514 or 497.6 cases per 100,000.

Peterborough increased by 9 to 1553 (767.8).

Melton increased 1 to 217 (423.8).

Rutland remained at 108 (270.5).

South Kesteven remained at 443 (311).

And South Holland also remained at 719 (756.7).

NHS data for Friday showed no new deaths in any of the hospital trusts covering Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire or North East Lincolnshire for 22 days.

Friday's figures also recorded no further deaths of Greater Lincolnshire residents in other places such as care homes, community, or hospitals outside Lincolnshire.

However, an urgent review of how deaths were recorded last week cut more than 5,000 from the national database.

Since then local figures have been removed from the government dashboard which means the changes, or any further increases, have not been reflected in local figures.

Nationally, government data showed cases increased Friday by 1,033 to 323,313 and deaths rose by two to 41,405.
