Raise your glasses to The Tap and Tonic in Grantham.

Directors Paul and Karen Adams are launching a take-away service guaranteed to raise your spirits.

And judging by the online reaction when news emerged, they will be the toast of the town.

The upmarket venue at 15 Market Place has been closed since March as part of the government-imposed lockdown.

But from Thursday, following consultation with South Kesteven District Council, they will start a collection-only service of take-away cocktails from their adjoining premises of the Juniper Tap at 14 Market Place.

Initially, ten cocktails will be available for pre order only by telephone on 01476 562576 between the hours of 5pm and 6:30pm on Thursdays and 4pm and 6:30pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Thirty-minute collection slots collection slots will then be allocated between 6pm and 9pm.

In addition to cocktails, there will also be a small collection of bottled gins available that you cannot buy in the supermarkets, along with tonics.

However, no food will be available.

Paul told Grantham Nub News: "We did do this the weekend before we were forced to close by the government. There was quite a demand. We then decided to stop everything as everything was unknown and for the protection of staff.

"Now, things are settling down and there is movement. We have measures in place to protect the staff and the customer. It has taken us a while to do this.

"We have removed the furniture from the front of the Juniper Tap. We have a collection desk where the customer will pay. A member of staff will sit behind a screen. There will be social distancing between the staff. We also expect the customers will stay two metres away from each other."

Furthermore, payments will be by card only. Cash will not be accepted.

All cocktails will be supplied in a disposable recyclable container which can be used to shake the cocktail with ice when customers get home.

A demonstration video is also available on the Tap and Tonic Facebook page, which also contains the menu.

Tap and Tonic customers will also have to order by phone, with their order times posted on Facebook. No walk-ins will be allowed.

Paul says this new service should help the family business keep going.

"We have spent a lot of time putting together a business plan to put us through. Re-opening for take-aways is part of that.

"I expect pubs and bars will be the last to re-open. I can't see us re-opening normally before the end of June.

"I'm devastated. It's made a massive difference to everybody in Grantham but we have to keep everybody safe and take guidance."

Reaction to the news of the cocktail take-aways on the Tap and Tonic Facebook page, has been overwhelmingly positive, with many comments made.

Melissa Hatcher said: "Wow can't wait 😠ðŸ¹ðŸ¸ðŸ¹."

Clare Gilbert commented: "Get in.... Well done Tap and Tonic x."

Jo Shaw added: "Ooooo exciting."
