A bench has been erected in Grantham town centre to recognise the work of NHS staff and other essential workers.

There was to be a 10am ceremony to unveil the bench situated in front of Sir Isaac Newton on the green of St Peter's Hill, but the second lockdown made for a small scale affair.

Instead, a token unveiling this morning included Grantham undertaker Robert Holland, Chris Kennedy of Roll and Scroll, who made the bench.

The bench has been funded by local businesses including Robert Holland and Roll and Scroll.

Chris told Nub News: "Local businesses have donated this bench to the town to try thank you to our great NHS and key workers through this pandemic."

Recently, Roll and Scroll renovated a bench from the Grantham Business and Professional Women's Women's Club bench which has been on St Peter's Hill since 1953.

Last week, a memorial bench made by Roll and Scroll was also erected in Grantham Cemetery to honour those who have died in the pandemic this year, as previously reported by Nub News.
