Coronavirus crisis: Grantham hospital staff told 'it's okay to have a wobble'

Local News by The Editor 7th Apr 2020

New Wobble Rooms have been set up around Lincolnshire's hospitals to give staff overwhelmed by the coronavirus situation a place to retreat to.

The move is part of United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust's efforts to support its staff members' health and wellbeing during the crisis.

A spokesman said: "A wobble room is a space dedicated for staff to go for a few minutes, away from everything to shout out loud, have a little cry or just sit quietly.

"We put up motivational pick-me-up posters and have our staff wellbeing booklet in them so staff have support information straight away.

"It's ok to have a wobble sometimes."

Kat Mayer who works on Navenby Ward, shared photos of one of the rooms on social media with the caption: "Our Wobble Room, aka the stationary cupboard. It's basic, but has been created with love and positivity. Well done team."

She later added: "Crying is not a weakness, it shows strength. We are not superheroes."

Earlier today, the NHS launched a new mental health hotline for 1.4 million staff nationwide tackling Covid-19.

It will see more than 1,500 volunteers from charities including Hospice UK, the Samaritans and Shout, listen to staff and give psychological support.
