Coronavirus crisis: Help Tony celebrate our 'Grantham Local Heroes'

A town estate agent is on the hunt for 'Grantham Local Heroes'.

Tony Ruby, a partner at Newton Fallowell, has launched the campaign saying in recent weeks it has "overwhelmed me to see and hear of the spirit that our town and local area is built upon."

"I want to share with the world how wonderful the people of Grantham are," he continued.

In the coming weeks, while he is 'furloughed' from work, Tony plans to interview "all the people that make a difference to all our lives in Grantham".

His first video interview, published on Facebook and You Tube, featured Dean Ward "a proud former serviceman, factory worker turned businessman and now Councillor and Deputy Mayor of Grantham."

Other video interviews featured Grantham property expert Christopher Watkin and Garron Harrison of GWH Floorings.

However, Tony, who lives at Gonerby Hill Foot, admits his plans haven't gone strictly to plan as the first interview was criticised by a lady who felt it wasn't appropriate for the Grantham Covid-19 Group page.

This then led Tony to rebrand the next two interviews to Grantham Business Focus, of which he has more interviews lined up and ready to be made.

Tony explained: ""Maybe it wasn't the right interview but I wanted to expose it there for people to nominate their heroes."

He again calls for people to send their nominations to him, with them having a brief video call and answer some simple questions to explain their recommendation.

And Tony hopes that once the pandemic crisis is over, he could sponsor or crowdfund a celebration evening for those nominated and the nominees can get together.

He added: "Maybe that's a bit romantic and a long shot, most who are true unsung heroes don't want the admiration of others for what they do."

Please email your suggestions to Tony using the Grantham Local Heroes Facebook Page.
