Coronavirus crisis: Burger King is back in Grantham and Colsterworth

Burger King has arrived back in Grantham, with the re-opening of its outlet at Gonerby Moor.

The newer Burger King on the corner of Harlaxton Road and Springfield Road remains closed, however.

It is due to open later 'this week' so perhaps any day now, though I could not see any signs of life when I drove past earlier today.

The Burger King at Colsterworth on the A1 opened yesterday.

Nub News was the first at Gonerby Moor for the 11am opening this morning.

Both have a limited menu and will be open until 9pm.

The Moto service station was quiet, with just the WH Smiths open and its Costa and Greggs still remaining closed.

First in the queue, I saw the couple of friendly staff lovingly clean the ordering kiosks and I was told to wait in line.

My whopper was delivered through a space in a perspex screen, along with the coke.

I then followed the signs, using another door to get out back into the car park.

Earlier, staff told me that they actually re-opened on Tuesday- two days earlier than planned- because they were ready.

Funny thing is, it was only yesterday a spokesman for Burger King told me Gonerby Moor would re-open today (Thursday) and Colsterworth yesterday (Wednesday).

No doubt an unintentional mistake, but it looks like I was served a Whopper of a different kind.

Either way, the Whopper meal made a lovely change for lunch.
