The Cards for Good Causes Shop opened again in Grantham on Tuesday.

This year it's in a new location in the former Body Shop outlet in the George Centre, with lots of space for gifs and a huge array of cards.

Last year the shop raised thousands of pounds for charities. Cards for Good Causes supports more than 250 national and local charities, selling the widest choice of Christmas cards through over 300 seasonal pop-up shops.

In addition to cards, there are advent calendars, Christmas wrapping paper, gift tags and decorations, as well as gifts and toys.

In the last 10 years alone, over £40 million has been raised for UK charities. A huge thanks to the generosity of all the loyal customers and the hard work of the volunteers.

Everyone wants to keep raising as much money as possible, with at least 70p in every pound from the card sales going to support local and national causes.

Charities benefitting include Cancer Research UK, Barnardo's, British Heart Foundation, Alzheimer's Society and RNLI, as well as a number of local charities including the Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance.

This year though has been a challenge. We all love sending Christmas cards – something that will be even more significant this year. The work of all the charities meanwhile continues with so many people being in need.

After much thought, careful planning and a hunt to find new premises, the shop in Grantham has reopened, as our charities need much needed funds.

Social distancing and all Covid-19 precautions will be in place to keep everyone safe. Numbers in the shop will be restricted, with customers being asked to respect one another's personal space when visiting and to wear face masks.

The shop will be open through to Christmas from Tuesday to Friday 10am – 4pm, and 9.30am – 2pm on Saturday.

Lyn O'Toole Area Manager, Cards for Good Causes, said: "Thanks to all our keen volunteers we are able to run our pop up shop again this year. We are looking forward to welcoming our loyal customers back through the doors in Grantham this season.

"Like every other shop in the town it will be a different set up to previous years in order to keep our customers and staff Covid-safe. This has been an extremely difficult year for all of our charities and they need your support more than ever.

"Buying charity Christmas cards is one of the simplest ways to support good causes this festive season and what better way to spread some festive cheer to family and friends in these difficult times. We stock one of the widest ranges of Christmas cards anywhere. The proceeds from every card or product sold make a vital contribution to the work of the charities that we partner."

This year there will be some new members of the team. Many of the long serving volunteers are stepping down in view of COVID, so more volunteers are needed.

To volunteer contact the Shop Manager, Sally Scorer on 07938 235407 or pop in during opening hours.

Sally said: "I'm looking forward to meeting and working with all our volunteers Most of all, we all look forward to meeting all the loyal customers, as well as lots of lovely new customers too."
