A village playground may be in line for improvements if a campaign group gains support and funding.

The Gonerby Hill Foot Park Action Group says it is working closely with South Kesteven District Council with the sole purpose of funding and repairing the Gonerby Hill Foot recreational park.

Co-founder Steve Healey posted on Facebook today: "As many of you will know the park at the bottom of Gonerby Hill Foot has, for the most part, been very nearly the same for the past 20 to 30 years.

"Myself and James, the 2 founding members of this group, have grown up in this area since birth and now have a child of our own and each have one more on the way. Meaning that this project is very close to our hearts.

"Over the course of the next few months we will be starting a committee, fundraising and planning repairs and renovations on the park.

"What are we asking from you? We would love it if you could send us over ideas for what you would like to see at the park as well as letting us know if you would like to help out when the time comes.

"We will also be potentially looking for a few more committee members as time goes on and such opportunities will be promoted in due course.

"Many thanks for reading this and we hope to post some exciting news in the near future.

Nearby residents have already posted their support.

Helen Pratt said: "So happy some one had taken this on! I rang the council a couple of years ago asking if I find raised some money we could do some thing but didn't get a very positive response!

"I have 2 children and live off Hazelwood Drive so please let me know what I can do to help."

Sue Fowler said: "It would be lovely to see this park greatly improved. My children used this park and I have now taken my grandchildren and was disappointed with the equipment that is there."

Already the group has around 50 members and details of it can be found here.
