A 'blue plaque' is to be erected to remember a 'forgotten' Grantham artist.
The Grantham Civic Society has gained planning approval from South Kesteven District Council to erect the plaque in Market Place.
The plaque is to remember Manual Immanuel, who was a "talented artist, who designed scenery and interior designs of theatres throughout the country, whilst also opening a drawing academy in Grantham in 1814."
The application to SKDC also said: "His art also includes a painting of Grantham Market PLace in 1820, showing the opening of the Mid-Lent Fair."
Manuel Immanuel is believed to have come from London. but spent much of his time in Grantham, living in Market Place until his death in 1834, aged 71.
The plaque will be secured to the wall of 2a Market Place, at the south-west side of the square, which is owned by Buckminster Estates and is next to Reflect Recruitment.
Civic Society vice-chairman Graham Cook told Grantham Nub News he was 'very pleased' for the society to gain planning approval for the plaque but due to the Coronavirus pandemic, he was unsure when it might be erected.
Graham added: "He was famous in his day but completely forgotten about. It will be great to celebrate his life in Grantham."
