McDonald's say they expect to create at least 65 jobs from a second outlet in Grantham.

Earlier this week Nub News reported on how the company has submitted a series of planning applications concerning signage around a site on Gonerby Moor.

No details, however, have yet been submitted concerning the restaurant and drive-thru itself, which would be built off the B1174 at Downtown.

The development would provide a boost to the Downtown Superstore, which has ambitious plans to create a designer outlet with more than 100 stores, creating 1,700 jobs.

Grantham's other McDonald's is on Bridge End Road, where it meets London Road and Springfield Road, south of Grantham's town centre.

A McDonald's Spokesperson told Nub News about their scheme for the northern end of town: "We look forward to progressing with this application and believe a new McDonald's restaurant would bring significant investment to the local community, as well as create at least 65 new jobs."

Richard Broadhead, Managing Director of Downtown, also said: "We are delighted that McDonald's have chosen Downtown for the location of their new restaurant and drive-thru.

"As an established retail destination, Downtown is the perfect location, and the new restaurant will not only complement the existing offer but also our exciting plans for redeveloping the overall site. This is another welcome economic boost for the area".
